Stigmas Associated with Tattoos

Do you remember when the sight of a tattoo enraged people? Some people even feared for their lives. The reason for that type behavior was influenced by gangs of young people that defied the established norms of society. Some people that wore tattoos were known to live alternative life styles which included drugs and other activities outside the law.Even people that worked on long haul jobs, sailors, and even military personnel were frowned upon when their tattoos were visible to people in general.

People also labeled tattoo wearers as individuals who did not want to commit to a life which demanded accountability and responsibility for ones actions. People felt tattoo wearers did not wish to be included in anything that represented conformity to a set of established values. Those negative attitudes towards tattoo wearers have somewhat softened. They are especially accepted today by young people and others who wish to make a personal statement about someone or something dear to them. Actually, tattoos are now showing up on people considered to be conservative thinkers.

Tattoos Express Deep Emotions

You may ask, but with all the negative stigma associated with tattoos why get one? That may border a little on the youthful defiance towards society but a tattoo designed and colored by a good tattoo artist can be as beautiful as a piece of art seen in an art gallery.

Today, people and especially young people get tattoos as an expression of a deep emotions. They dedicate their tattoos to a special event, person or belief by painting a representation on their bodies. The placement of the tattoo on the body creates a lifetime connection to the motivation for getting the tattoo. The placement of the tattoo is up to the individual and the tattoo artist willingness to paint it at the designated spot on the body.

Because of the beauty and complexity of some tattoos, it is understandable as to the reason some people get tattoos. Oh, yeah there is one side note here. Young people are no longer the only ones getting tattoos. Tattoos are gotten by people from all income levels and age groups and by both genders. Tattoos may be considered custom made body art. Even if people choose from a selection of designs viewed in a book, the individual still adds a touch of their personality in the final product.

The final product may be a full body tattoo that takes several visits to the shop. It could be a picture of anything the person can describe to the artist or a print of a particular view. Some tattoos are made as armbands. That is a particular theme or symbol is drawn around the circumference of the arm. Some tattoos are considered girl tattoos and some are boy tattoos. That can be considered literal or theme wise. Tattoos are placed on the legs, on the trunk of the body and any place the ink will show up on the body. Some people even tattoo their face, chest, neck, and head.

Tattoo Guns

Most people would not think of making their own tattoo gun. For whatever reason they choose, some people try to make their own tattoo gun. Some people succeed at doing it too. They collect tools from around the house which include everyday items such as guitar string, barrel of a pen, tooth brush, pencil eraser, and a few other items found in the home.Once they finally assemble the apparatus, the next step is to fill the gun with ink. Then decide on the design they wish to apply on their body. Then there are people who choose to purchase a tattoo gun from online. The guns may be new or home made or used.

Regardless of the type gun the individual uses on their body, they must decide on a tattoo design and apply it. Sketching a design on a piece of paper and attempting to draw the same thing on your body do not guarantee expected results. The end product could be a reality check that will be with you for the rest of your life. Even with some professional tattoo artists, you are not guaranteed to receive what your mind envisioned. They have the skills needed to make adjustments needed to make your tattoo presentable.

Safety Precautions and Tattoo Needles

The tattoo needle requires serious consideration from the client, from the professional tattoo artist and from the self professed tattoo artist. The first concern of an individual receiving a tattoo is the sterilization of the tattoo needle. The tattoo needle is exactly what it says it is. It is a needle that moves at a very fast speed to break the surface of the skin. Once it reaches the third level of skin, a dot of ink is injected into the skin. The series of dots make a design or you might say a tattoo.

Regardless of who is applies the tattoo, needle sterilization is a must. It is imperative that the individual take responsibility for their own safety. Improperly cleaned needles can obviously lead to HIV and other life threatening diseases. Safety precautions for using a safe needle and items used in the process requires asking the right questions.

Making sure the tattoo artist is a responsible person that follows maximum safety steps is your right to know. For example, are the rubber gloves disposal and not reused between customers? Are bleach and alcohol used to prepare needles and guns for pressurized steam autoclave sterilization? Is the blue liquid needles are dipped into from a squeeze bottle and not from a container that receives multiple dip-in uses? Are all rags and ointment applicators disposable one time use items? From eye observation, is the general area clean and sanitized? If you are not bold enough to insist on these safety precautions, then it is not a good idea to get your tattoo. You must be willing to speak up for yourself and expect the tattoo artist to respect your inquiries and expectations.

Tattoos Are More than Fashion Statements

Well designed tattoos of any size, shape or color combination makes a positive statement in certain circles. One that is done correctly is a beautiful and amazing piece of body art. People that have fallen in love with tattoos can vouch for their mesmerizing uniqueness. Tattoo body art may be visible to the public. Or they may be placed in discrete places that are viewable only to select audiences. They are as varied as the imagination of the wearer.

The tattoo is like a salamander. It changes with the interpretation of the viewer. For example a flower tattoo on a woman is highly admired and appealing to some men. The beauty of the flower is a combination of the man's feelings toward the woman and the perfection with which the tattoo  was applied to her body.

Some women apply tattoos as permanent makeup around their eyes and on their lips. Forever those women will never be caught without their makeup on. They won't have to worry about their makeup washing off in the pool or in the bath.

Men have tattoos applied on their bodies for as many reasons as women. A flower on a man's body can be just as appealing on him as it is on a woman. Wearing a tattoo of an animal he loved is often a memorial to a dear friend he once loved without condition.

Thanks for this information. I was thinking about getting a tattoo, but don't know what. Also I am highly allergic to yellow jackets and almost died from one sting. It makes me wonder if I would be allergic to the ink? Have you ever heard of someone having a alleric reation to the ink? If so let me know if you don't mind. I would like to get a tattoo symbolizing sobriety,
